Spark Some Love

Happy Independence Day!  As I reflect on the blessing it is to live where I live and have the life I live I am also reflecting on what is going on all around me in our country.  The Love of Jesus is not first and foremost on the mind of most of the people I have seen.  Instead anger and sadness, entitlement, and ungratefulness are among the top emotions and top sentiments that I see posted and spoken all around.   What if for one day… say today (and every day forward) we lay down our anger and disappointment at the foot of the cross and do what the Lord commanded us to do!

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it:‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV

When we step out in faith and do these two simple things lives are changed!  Let’s Spark some change in our country and in our world by sharing kindness and love with all we meet!  What if our love for God was so vast that we could not help but let it overflow into our daily life!  What if that love lit up a burning desire in our hearts to love those around us… especially those who have wronged us.  Each spark of love that is passed from one person to another will grow until the whole world is full of the Love of Jesus!

I know that this may seem like a fantasy and that surely the whole world could not be filled with the love of God… but I find that harder to believe.  I believe that God has given us the love that we need to share with others.  He has given us greater mercy, grace, and kindness then we could ever imagine.  When we let that love take over our lives it is quite radical.  We begin to see others through God’s love for them and we begin share that love everywhere.

Today Spark a little love in your life!  Share it with everyone you meet and see just how amazing God’s love for you is!
